Horn Island, 11/8
After setting up our tents in the blustering wind last night, we found
ourselves on Horn Island, a small, remote island off the coast of
Biloxi, Mississippi. Our lovely teachers let us sleep in this morning,
so we woke up at nine and began the day. Our project for the day was
lighthearted to say the least. It involved making sand sculptures of
animals that were native to the island with a partner, then drawing
topography lines on them to denote the changes in elevation. It's safe
to say that the lack of sunscreen plus the 80 degree weather resulted in
some pretty bad sunburns for a lot of us, but I think just about
everyone would say it was well worth it! The day concluded with a
breathtaking sunset, and a classic savanna bonfire.
