Destination Lake Itasca ... after a year of driving ... and bathroom breaks

Lake Itasca was quite an adventure and also a place close to fellow blogger Eric Cook. When we first arrived at lake Itasca we ventured into the starting point of the Mighty Mississipp' , y'all know what we mean. The Mississipi actually begins at an area where a lake overflows. That water is then sent down stream in a tiny ford and grows to be a grand landmark of America. At this point we had free time to meander (vocab word from deb !) in the water. The water was absolutley freezing even though the day was quite warm. We then began to take notes whilst soaking our feet in the headwaters of the Mississippi River, a much better classroom than back in the good ol' COD... for those of you who don't know about the LA classroom at the COD, it is facing the sun side and the A.C. is apparently broken... or so we have found from our sweat stains. The water prooved to be a great environment for a class photo on the rocks. The water however was not as serene below the surface. Morgan Van Denack was bit/ attacked by a mysterious  poisonous something, as the park ranger identified it. Her foot swelled and was numb but the next day there was nothing to show for the pain. Just a memory and thought of, "did that really happen".
The camp site at Lake Itasca was a little rocky and some of us may have staked our tents a tad too close to the fire pit. However, that didn't stop us from cooking all of our soup and ravioli cans over the fire. We continued the night telling stories, singing songs and playing games around the camp fire. We were all care free and content until about 2 a.m. when you realize you have lost your head lamp and have to feel your way to the latrine. Up the hill, down it, passed the vans and passed the trees and destination. They smelled like crap for obvious reasons, they were definitely an experience.
The next morning we woke up at 7 so we could pack up, eat, and leave by 8. All that was done by 7:30, Michael described it as a record time moment. So we packed up the vans and said our fair wells to Lake Itasca.   Here's a related song for y'all Song.
